Illustration Workshops with Tita Berredo

Join Brazillian illustrator Tita Berredo at TC for 4 illustration workshops in September 2019!

Well hey!

Do you want to learn how to draw? Yeah…me too.

I’m an animator and designer and have been working in the industry for 10 years, but I still need a TONNE of help when it comes to drawing and illustrating for my clients… I was so excited to find Tita on Instagram a few months ago. She had illustrated an alphabet with circus characters. I got in touch with her to say something like… “Girl, I love your work…” and a couple a coffees, a few glasses of rosé and some giant Posca pens later, we have an acrobat and a tightrope walker gracing our windows here at the coworking space on Pollokshaws Road. Drive past and see them fly!

Tita will be hosting 4 workshops here in September. All affordable, child-friendly, and no previous experience in drawing is necessary. Find out more below and we hope to see you here!

Love,

Joanna

Workshop 1 | Sept 2019

SEP 12: Stick Figures Matter Too! — Kickstart Drawing and Improving Skills >> TICKETS

We all drew as children, but early in life we were separated into two groups: the ones who ‘can’ draw’ and the ones who ‘can’t’. However, there is no such thing! Art is more subjective than objective, and once we strip out that ‘right or wrong’ concept we can all start enjoying drawing and developing our skills. And that’s what we are doing in this workshop! You will learn to draw people, animals, objects, food, and whatever else you want. So don’t be ashamed of your stick figures! Whatever you can, or think you can’t draw, you are welcome to explore. Drawing is for everyone!

Outline: Start with introductions, then move on to some teaching and off to the practice exercises. There will be a 15 minute break for tea in the middle of the session. Some review and direction is offered at the end if wanted.

Workshop 3 | Sept 2019

SEP 24: Drawing With One Colour! — Illustration Workshop >> TICKETS

Pick your favourite colour or simply choose one you would like to explore and let’s work! In this workshop, Tita Berredo will show the various different ways of working with the same single colour in a drawing, whether it’s finding existing things that match it or making things work within it. With fun exercises and brainstorms you will be working with shades, textures, and inventive ways of making the most of the same colour in illustration.

You will be working with a black pen for the outline, and one colour of your choice in any medium to use in various ways. Learn how to create great composition, and how to balance and generate focus with detail.

Tip: You can bring the same colour in different media (coloured pencil, crayon, pastel, ink, markers, etc.) to see the different results. If you want to work with watercolour, try using a waterproof ink pen for the outline (a black sharpie will do).

Outline: Start with introductions, then move on to some teaching and off to the practice exercises. There will be a 15 minute break for tea in the middle of the session. Some review and direction is offered at the end if wanted.

Workshop 4 | Sept 2019

SEP 26: Drawing Animals & Anthropomorphic Characters — Illustration Workshops >> TICKETS

Peter Rabbit, Paddington Bear, The Cat in the Hat, The Tiger Who Came To Tea, all beloved animal characters we grew up with. Whether it’s hopping away from a predator or it’s on its hind legs wearing a suit, animal characters are probably the most appealing to children because they are visually attractive and easily relatable. But when are they suitable for a story, and how to make their scale and proportions work? In this workshop, you will analyse the different layers of anthropomorphism existing in characters we all know and learn how to apply them to the ones you create.

Outline: Start with introductions, then move on to some teaching and off to the practice exercises. There will be a 15 minute break for tea in the middle of the session. Some review and direction is offered at the end if wanted.
